The National Defense Society at JMU ("NDS-JMU," "we," or "the chapter") respects the privacy of members, prospective members, and website visitors. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
What We Collect
We collect information you provide directly to us, such as your name, email address, major, graduation year, and any other information you submit through our mailing list sign-up form or project team applications.
Our website is hosted on Vercel and may log standard technical information from visitors, including IP addresses, browser type, and pages viewed. We do not use analytics tools or third-party tracking cookies.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information you provide to communicate with you about chapter activities, speaker events, project teams, and other club programming. We may also use it to track membership, plan events, and share updates with the mailing list.
What We Do Not Do
We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. We do not share member information with sponsors, and we do not provide contact information to outside organizations without your explicit permission.
Who Has Access
Your information is accessible only to the NDS-JMU executive board and, as required for chapter operations, the national National Defense Society organization. We may share aggregate, non-identifying membership statistics (such as total member count or breakdown by major) with sponsors and university administrators.
Data Retention
We retain member information for the duration of your involvement with the chapter, plus one academic year after your last activity. You can request removal of your information at any time by contacting us.
Your Choices
You can unsubscribe from our mailing list at any time by contacting us. You can also request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by emailing the contact address below.
JMU Policies
NDS-JMU is a recognized student organization at James Madison University. Information collected through official JMU systems (such as JMU-sponsored forms or platforms) is also subject to JMU's own privacy policies.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the mailing list and reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
